Also the recording is the recording meaning the sound quality is not going to get better on an older recordings even if it is downloaded in some lossless format with a large file size. This applies in the US, I don't know about other countries. What you pay for in a download affords you much less rights than what you get with a purchase of a CD. You are just buying a right to listen to the file you download. Music you buy as a download you do not own. CDs break down over time (20 - 30 years) and can start skipping but you are allowed to make backups of your CDs. If you copy the CD onto a hard drive sas a FLAC, WAV file, MP3, AAC or whatever format the software the saved file to you still own the copy of the music if you still possess the disc itself. If you buy the Compact Disc you OWN the music file on the disc.
